Faith Roots International Academy

I remember the first time it occurred to me that we were one day going to open a school not only for our kids but also for the kids of the community. The school became a part of our vision in 2007 but I felt then like it was to be a part of our 5-10 year plan rather than an immediate need. Then when we moved to Ghana in 2010 we realized that the education the children was receiving at the private school we had them enrolled in was only an inch deep and many of them were passing through to the next grade level but they still couldn't write their name. This concerned us to the point that we knew we had to pull them from the school and start homeschooling them.

Autumn was coming to Ghana to help tutor our kiddos for one year...I still get goose bumps when I think about how God had planned everything out...all we have to do is be obedient to His leading. So Autumn landed in Ghana in June 2010, Johnbull and I met her at the airport with lots of hugs and smiles and then we told her of "our great plan" to start a homeschool in September rather than send the kids back to school and "SURPRISE"...she was promoted from tutor to Director of Education! Well I can't imagine what she was thinking since she had been in the country for less than 30 minutes and now she was helping to start a school.

This morning I went with Johnbull to our school, Faith Roots International Academy, to address the teachers about how CORM came to be and our vision and ministry. This is Autumn's fourth school year and our third year of opening the school to the public. Many of our students come from single parent families and they aren't able to afford the tuition...so thankful for our friends from all over the US and other countries who help sponsor our kids so that they can receive an education.

Today my heart is so full of gratitude...to God for the way He uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise...for Autumn who said "YES" and continues to pour herself out...for my husband who has never looked back.
